What is a curiosity call?

The complementary curiosity call lasts about 30 mins and is where we have an opportunity to get to know each other better. We'll chat about what your current challenges are, explore how you want to be supported and ask questions to learn about the process of coaching and understand if it is the right fit for you.

What's the difference between a therapist and a coach?

Therapists work with and treat trauma. Coaches do not treat trauma. We focus our work in the present, not the past. Coaching is about talking through your feelings, very much like therapy, and feeling supported in finding all the answers that you need.

Coaches work within the ICF Code Of Ethics so do not work outside our scope of competence. If it is deemed that coaching is not the correct support mechanism for you at this moment in time this will be discussed with you directly to find a suitable solution to support your onward journey.

Sometimes the client will need a therapist as well as a coach to support them in between sessions. A coach does not diagnose mental health and we can't prescribe or give advice about medication.

How do I know if coaching and mentoring is right for me?

Therapy and counselling play an important role in understanding behaviours and emotions in supporting you in understanding and processing things which have already happened. Coaching is a partnership between the coach and client where the focus is always looking forwards. Ultimately you are responsible for the changes but a coach and mentor is there to listen, give guidance, support, understanding and be your biggest cheerleader.

Our curiosity call is a great way for me to find out if coaching is the right pathway for you and understand how we can work together.

How can I book and pay for my coaching sessions?

First we can start with our curiosity call and once we know coaching is right for you I will send you a link to book and pay via my Calendly appointment page, where you can choose a date and time best for you.

Who else will know what has been said?

A coaching session is completely confidential. I agree and comply with the Coaching Code of Conduct, which will be included in your contract, and only in extreme circumstances will this confidence be breached. This includes the intent to cause harm to yourself or others or criminal acts.

What will happen during a coaching session?

After the initial curiosity call which will start us talking about you and what you would like to take away from coaching. Here's what to expect from our sessions working together:

1. Have a chat about where you are and how you are feeling

2. Decide on what you'd like to focus on for that session

3. Consider where you are at the present moment with this

4. Discuss some of your options in helping you move forward

5. Agree on some actions that you feel comfortable with and that will help you achieve what you are wanting

6. Talk about the key insights from the session and how you'd like to be supported between sessions

What does the coach need from me during a session?

To make sure that your time is being well spent it would be beneficial to come to the follow up sessions with a focus topic in mind or what area that you would like to work towards.

Preparation is very important for the coaching session so you are encouraged to spend 15 minutes prior to the session taking yourself to an environment where you will not be disturbed, so to feel relaxed prior to the start of the session. You will also need to ensure that you have a pen and paper to hand and any other items that you may think will be useful such as a diary, drink or tissues as sometimes it's common to feel emotional during a session.

What time of day are the coaching calls?

I try to make different times of the day and evening available to suit different time schedules, fit around work, your lifestyle and time zones.

How much time do I need to invest in coaching?

Sessions are designed for you to get the most benefit by taking small steps to achieve what you want. To get better results so I would recommend at least three however there is no minimum or maximum time commitment. If you decide you require more then we can add extra sessions on top as needed.
