Menopause isn't just a women's business...it's everyone's business!

Recognising menopause as a workplace issue is crucial. In today's world, where people spend a significant portion of their lives in the workplace, menopause can have a profound effect on both employees and organisations.

Promote a compassionate work environment where everyone will be better equipped to understand, able to empathise with any menopausal experiences for women and men, support team relationships with open communication and reduce stigmas.

Menopause Facts

Menopause is often viewed as a personal phase of life, but the impacts extend far beyond the individual - symptoms can disrupt daily life and work life.

The menopause happens to all women, trans and non-binary people and they represent the fastest growing workforce demographic. The average age of menopause is 51 yet symptoms can last up to 10 years in the perimenopausal stage and for many years after. Early and premature menopause can happen at any age due to natural, surgical, medical or chemical factors.

Symptoms range from cognitive, physical and psychological - for example hot flushes, muscular aches, poor concentration, brain fog, anxiety and depression. In fact there are over 40 symptoms! Symptoms can disrupt daily life and the ability to perform effectively at work. These challenges can lead to decreased productivity, absenteeism, and even early retirement.

Build safe spaces to have

A proactive approach can positively increase productivity, attract and retain talent, save recruitment costs plus time retraining, boost morale, support gender equality and even the risk of menopause related employment tribunals.
